Monday, Monday!
Nothing like starting off the week with a RANT!! Just in case any of you have encountered the problems accessing the Etsy.com site, I have found out that they implemented an server change last week, which has caused connectivity problems with their site. If anyone needs their support email (which I had to search for) it is support@etsy.com
Email them if you are having problems or want to give them a piece of your frustrated mind. That's what I did, considering the did not contact their sellers via email concerning this issue.
Ah--- even in this world of creative re-visioning of e-commerce, the folks running it seem to have forgotten common courtesy for their patrons............too bad. I had higher hopes for their level of professionalism.
As soon as I am able to connect back onto my shop, I will continue to use Etsy.com as a site from which I sell my glass goods, but this latest run in with a Etsy "bug", I think I will be looking at revamping my own website to allow for easier and additional direct sales.
Nobody ever said a creative existance was easy but really now............

COOL MUSIC NEWS FOR SAVVY HUMANS!
I've been out of the blogging loop since April Fool's Day....an no, as it turned out, it wasn't a funny day at all. The staff at 99.9 the Rock in Auburn, Alabama (WQNR) were given their walking papers to be effective immediately (this was my day job as mid-day DJ rockin' with my stage name: Lola Palooza). No two week notice nor common courtesy from the employer. A huge bummer not only for the folks who lost their jobs, but for the loss of a fantastic radio station (already too much of a rarity these days).
After 7 years of bringing avant-garde, format breaking radio to the listening public, the talented Program Director and morning show host, (and savvy musician, too): Wildman Steve, and the other DJ's were told that the owner had decided to instill a format change to become effective by mid- April. Many fans of "The Rock" immediately lamented the demise of the station they had come to adore; one even going so far as to write up the scenario in Wikipedia (go to Wikipedia and search on: WQNR).
Loyalty like that doesn't come easily and for no good reason. We helped to spread really fantastic music, irregardless of genre- current releases, deep-cut classics, Indie artists, roots music- you name it, we played it- it was radio for the love of music backed up by intelligent DJ's that actually picked their own selections, knew about the music/artists, played vinyl (nearly unheard of these days), and basically gave a warm, human edge to the presentation- basically the soul at the root of the sound. As a listener, once you are given the choice of intelligent programming and then have to compare it with today's predictable, homogenized, boring radio (filled by corporate giants and artless music), if you have any real musical love, and you find a gem, then there is no going back.
So you know how the saying, "if you're given lemons, make lemonade?"..well.........let me fill you in on some exciting music/radio news! Wildman Steve and Lola Palooza (that's me) are gearing up for the launch of WildmanSteve Radio via the internet!! We are so excited at the prospect of reaching even more folks with the varitable slew of great music available today!

SMOKIN' MUSIC O'THE WEEK!
BRAVO JOHNSON is a band that has seemingly come out of nowhere with an incredibly creative and refreshing sound. They have their debut album out on the Stone Junction label, simply titled "Bravo Johnson" (and a 2 CD set to boot- really rare for a debut). This 4 piece band is headed up by Rick Amurrio. And that's about all the info I can find on these folks. I do highly recommend their album to everyone- there's not a bad lick on either CD. You can access them (or purchase their goods) at:
www.bravojohnson.com or click on this link: BRAVO JOHNSON
Music can make mind bigger and your soul more satisfied!! Check them out! This is creativilty in action!

New work in the works!
Man I can't tell you how incredibly THRILLED I am to be getting back to some brand-spankin' new glasswork that I am rolling out for this season! I've not been able to work for about 6 months due to a back injury but I am finally on the mend, so I am able to get back to it! Horray! (I have to say, when you have the creativity bug, it is REALLY hard to not have the choice to work......I surely have been feeling nutty without it, although I crocheted about a bazillion little dish cloths in my healing time).
So keep your eye out as I will start getting some of my new lampworked beads, fused goodies and jewelry finished up and posted in my ETSY shop, as well as, posting some tasty tidbits right here. Art, in any form (but especially glass) sure soothes my soul! Can't wait to share the love with you, too!

Show dates for Midnight Star Glass Studio +other Indie artists!
Hi everyone- well it has been a while since I've hit the art fair circuit but I have two dates lined up in the next month or so. I'll be in Waverly, Alabama at one of the absolute COOLEST events anywhere- The Old 280 Boogie on April 19th at Standard Deluxe (check their link for complete details) and then I'm doing my hometown digs in Auburn, Alabama: Cityfest 2008 at Kiesel Park the following Saturday, April 26th. You can get more info about Auburn Cityfest 2008 through this link.
Hope that if you are in the area, you will come out and support some of the finest Indie artists in our area. The events will be rain or shine (but art doesn't quit 'cause of the weather so I hope it will not be a force to deter you coming out........ah, but that Mother Nature does ultimately trump us all)! And yes- umbrellas were invented for a reason! :) I'll be hoping for sun, sun, sun, but no matter what, I'm gonna have fun, fun, fun!
Fine ways to spend your spring Saturdays..........ART- demand more!
